Are You Ready for The Transition

Are You Ready for The Transition?

Today marks the last day of Summer, although here in the DMV the weather has already begun to feel like Fall. I first noticed the change in temperature about a week ago, when I went out for my morning walk. Instead of my normal t-shirt, I had to grab a hoodie to keep me warm. At the conclusion of my walk, the Lord began to speak to me about what I thought was the change in weather. The first thing I heard was “are you ready for the transition”? Initially I thought He was referring to the season change from Summer to Fall, but as I continued my cool down, He made it clear that it’s not just the natural season change that we need to be prepared for, but also the spiritual season change.

As a nation we are preparing for one of the most significant events in our nation, the presidential election. Over the past few months, there’s been an increase in voter registration and an emphasis on the importance of everyone exercising their right to vote. The anticipation of transition is high. Although we don’t know the outcome, one thing is certain, no matter who wins the election there is going to be a climate change. As the body of Christ, we have to ensure that we are positioned to withstand the wind of change.

Often on my morning Facebook live, The Rise and Shine Devotional, I share how my grandchildren like for me to read them the story of the three little pigs. The takeaway from this story is that if your house is not built on a solid foundation, the enemy will huff and puff and blow it down. The enemy will use his mouth to release a wind that will blow us off course. So, what is the solution? How do we prepare for the transition? We use our mouth. We use our mouth in prayer praying the word of God. We use our mouth to make declarations according to the word of God. We use our mouth to share the gospel of Jesus to a dying world. Complaining, and speaking negatively does not prepare us for transition. When we complain and speak negatively, we are simply building our house with straw. Straw can be blown away and even burned, destroying the house. We build our house on the rock, the word of God, so that when the storms of life come blowing as a fierce wind or even as hot as a volcano, we are able to stand.

24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” | Matthew 7:24-27 ESV

This next season is going to require us to grow up. Just like a baby goes from being held, to crawling, to standing, to walking and even running, we must remove the pacifier, take off the diaper, get rid of the bottle and start walking as a mature believer. In this next season, quick prayers, no bible study, and drive-by online church attendance is not going to work. It’s time for a soul shift. Your soul is made up of your mind, will and emotions. Until you possess your soul (Luke 21:19), you’ll be tossed around by every wind of doctrine. In order to possess your soul, you have to renew your mind. You can no longer do things according to the world system. We are spirit beings and we are to operate under the system of God. The will and emotions both respond to our thoughts, so our thinking has to be in alignment with the word of God. It’s time to be intentional about our relationship with God. He must be our priority. A couple of weeks ago, He said to me to trust Him with everything, because my very life depends on it. Again, He must be our priority. I wish I had some simple 5 ways to transition formula, but I don’t. There’s just one way and that is to “seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).

In this next season, God is looking for those He can show himself strong to. He’s looking for those whose life and mouth are in agreement with His word. Are you ready for the transition? If not, it’s time to get ready. These remaining days of September commit to prayer and fasting. Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal every hindrance to your destiny, and then be immediately obedient to the direction you receive. Let’s go into this last quarter of 2020 with clarity, consistency, confidence and conquering. 2020 has not been a failure, but it is the beginning of demonstrative declarations. Make sure you’re declaring the right thing. Until next week…

Be blessed, but first comes obedience!
