Disrupter of Distraction

“Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.” — 1 Peter 5:8 AMPC

Hi, everybody!

I want to share a quick note with you on distraction.

As I was thinking about what to title this blog, I heard "Disrupter of Distraction!" It’s almost like an oxymoron, but what God is saying is that if 2020 is going to be the year of clarity, consistency, confidence, and conquering, we must become disrupters or one who stops distractions.

So, let’s define distraction.

To distract means to divide attention or prevent concentration.

This happened to me while I was doing my live this morning. In the midst of teaching, I received a comment/question from someone I didn’t know, and their comment was totally off the subject. I politely responded to let them know the live was not the auction they were looking for, and then several other people started making mocking comments about God and Jesus. The comments divided my attention. For a moment, the comments prevented me from concentrating on what I was teaching. At that point, I became a disruptor of the distraction. Instead of responding directly to the additional comments, I continued the video, and in my closing prayer, I also prayed for them to know Jesus.

After the video ended, I blocked them, so they could not access my lives or posts. Once I made the decision to ignore the comments, I became a disrupter of the distraction. Once I made the choice to ignore the distractions, I was able to continue teaching.

To disrupt means to cause disorder or turmoil; to interrupt.

The longer I ignored them, the more they typed mocking comments. I created turmoil and interrupted the plan of the enemy to cause me to stop teaching. I shared what happened with a close friend, and she said, “Well, if you doubted, you were on the right track by going live. You know now that you are.”

Why am I sharing this with you?

Just like me, the little things can distract you and throw you off course. You may be working on a project and then your children or your spouse start talking to you mid-thought. Before you know it, your attention is divided and you’re no longer able to concentrate. Now I’m not saying when this happens it’s the enemy. However, if you’ve made a decision to start eating right and working out, to stop dating multiple people, or to start going live every day to share the Gospel, nine times out of ten, the enemy will use your favorite fast food, that fine girl or guy, or even trolls to distract you from fulfilling your goals. Remember, choice to not allow distractions to paralyze you. I challenge you to become a disruptor of distractions. Don’t let the distraction disrupt you from reaching your destiny. We’ve got this!

Until next week…

Be blessed, but first comes obedience!
