Free Your Mind

Have you ever felt like your mind was racing?

You know, thought after thought coming so quickly that as soon as you focus on one thing, there comes another? So much so that you find yourself in a state of anxiety and paralyzed, not knowing what to do or think? Basically, what’s happening is that in seeking information under the guise of knowing how to prepare or expect next, we unconsciously incarcerate ourselves and often forget we have the key to unlock the door to the prison cell that we put ourselves in.

So what’s the solution?

I’m so glad you asked.

“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV

Several years ago, a group by the name of En Vogue had a song titled "Free Your Mind". The song was basically about not judging a person because of how they dressed or based on the color of their skin. There’s a line that says “free your mind and the rest will follow”. It’s not until we lose the shackles on our mind that we're able to think clearly.

The first step to freeing your mind is being conscious about what we listen to and watch. We have to remember that our eyes and ears are like gates. They are a point of access to our spirit and our soul, which is our mind, will, and emotions. For example, this pandemic of the Coronavirus is being broadcast 24/7, and the doors to fear, anxiety, worry, and depression have been opened. These are all emotions that eventually paralyze us and keep us from doing anything, which is right where the enemy wants us. So, I encourage you to spend less time watching the news or reading posts on social media, and spend more time reading and speaking the Word. Romans 12:2 tells us not to be conformed to this world, but to allow the word to transform us by renewing our mind. Renew means to make new again. The more we read the Word, we are allowing the Word to renew our way of thinking. 2 Corinthians 10:5 reminds us to take every thought captive. Instead of letting our thoughts imprison us, we are to imprison them. We do this through prayer and speaking the Word. The more we speak the Word, the more we increase our faith, because faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

First, be conscious about what you see and hear.

Next, read the Word.

Then, speak the Word.

These three things will put you on the path of clarity.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” — Romans 12:2 NKJV

2020 is the year of clarity, consistency, confidence, and conquering. To have clarity, we must free our minds. So, what are you pondering? What are you thinking about? Despite what’s going on remember Philippians 4:8: “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Free your mind and the rest will follow. If you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe to our mailing list, so you can stay tuned for information on our next class on hearing the voice of God.

Until next week…

Be blessed, but first comes obedience! Rev. Robin
