Thursday, March 19, 2020, was the first day of spring. This season usually sparks a desire to purge and clean house. This year, prior to the new season of spring, there was a global focus on cleaning and sanitizing. Everywhere you turned, there were reminders to wash your hands. Social distancing guidelines were enacted to assist with lessening the spread of a virus that became a global pandemic. So, while you’re sanitizing your homes and washing your hands, be sure to include this tips:
To ensure you maintain good oral hygiene, be sure to do all things without murmuring and complaining. Also, remember that blessing and cursing should not come out of your mouth. Let your words be seasoned with salt and full of grace. (Philippians 2:14, James 3:10, Colossians 4:6)
As you cover your mouth with the mask, be sure to cleanse your heart first with the washing of the water of the Word. Remember, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. If your heart is not clean, the mask won’t help keep the contaminated words from flowing out and infecting others. (Ephesians 5:26, Matthew 12:34)
As you put on your gloves as a shield, remember to raise the shield of faith, so that the fiery darts of fear will ricochet off. (Ephesians 6:16)
While covering your hands, remember to cover your head with the helmet of salvation. This will protect your mind from being contaminated by the negative chatter on the news and social media. (Ephesians 6:17)
As you apply soap to your hands, remember to apply the blood of Jesus and allow its lather to cleanse your heart and your mind. Meditating on Psalm 91 will also remind you that you are covered. (Exodus 12:22-23)
These are just a few tips to add to your spring cleaning. These additional days allotted to being home give us a great opportunity to not only clean our homes but sanitize our hearts and minds.
