Whose Lead Are You Following?

In today’s society, many ideologies are presented, and it could cause one to lose focus. From same sex marriage, to girls being allowed to join the boy scouts, and even the series of devastating events (hurricanes, fires, murders, and racist protests), we need to stop and ask ourselves whose lead are we following?

People often use the phrase “wisdom is the principle thing” as a cliché, when in reality. it’s scriptural (Proverbs 4:7). The issue arises when we rely on the wisdom of man versus the wisdom of God. In 1 Corinthians 2:1-9, Paul explains how and why he was able to preach the way he did. Verses 4-5 state, “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” When we follow the wisdom of God (His Word), we are connected to the power of God. The power of God is the vehicle that will connect us to our expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).

When we need advice, we should first seek the wisdom of God. Psalm 25:14 says, “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.” When trials come, when we need direction, God’s word will give us the answers. When we begin to confess that word, we will find the power of God working with our confession to bring about the desired outcome.

Whose lead are you following? Whose voice is directing your decisions? Is it God’s or man’s (which could be your own) voice. Take a look at the decisions you’ve made this week and determine whose lead you followed. If it wasn’t God’s lead, begin to put him first in your life and watch things work out better for you.

Be blessed, but first comes obedience!
